The first Kyoto workshop was scheduled for today, but unfortunately this weekend’s workshops have been canceled due to low registration. It looks like the only workshop will be the August 7 workshop at Cafe Frosch. Details here.

Any opportunity to introduce people to book arts is a special opportunity, especially when so few people know what it is (ah, but the numbers are growing!). Although there will be only one workshop in Kyoto, I’m very much looking forward to it.

However, one workshop means not enough art which then means no exhibition. But that doesn’t mean there won’t be anything to share with you!

Moving on to Plan B. Instead, I will be delving into the book arts scene here in Kansai – specifically Kyoto, Osaka, and Kobe. I’ve been making a list of places to visit, and I will be sharing my discoveries with you here on the blog. There are tons of paper places, a smattering of letterpress places, and although there has been no hint of book art yet, I hope to come across something during my time here.

So stay tuned – my first adventure took place in Osaka yesterday!
